Scana Propulsion has succeeded in securing contract for delivery of reduction gearboxes to two AHTS for Grupo CBO, Brazil.
Scana Propulsion and Sotreq SA, Brazil have signed a contract for delivery of reduction gearboxes to two Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels (AHTS) for Grupo CBO of Brazil. This contract is a declared option from the previous contract on propulsion equipment to four vessels already delivered in 2016. The vessels are of Havyard 843 design by Havyard Design & Solutions AS, in Norway. The gearboxes from Scana Propulsion are for a diesel-mechanical twin screw propulsion system, powered by Caterpillar MaK engines. The equipment is scheduled for delivery to the Grupo CBO shipyard Oceana in Itajai in Brazil, in Q3 and Q4-2017.
“In a period with few contracts for offshore vessels, we are grateful that Grupo CBO exercised options for the AHTS vessels, and pleased to announce our achievment of the contract for the reduction gears”, says Hallvard Pettersen, Managing Director of Scana Volda. Mr. Pettersen will further emphasize that the company is proud and grateful to have achieved a fair number of contracts for newbuilding and retrofit in a tough year with record low newbuilding and fierce competition for contracts in the global market in general. “Scana Volda is in a promising position for 2017 as we have now almost filled up our production capacity for the first 3 quarters”, says Mr. Pettersen.
